Feasibility study; Freight hub for the Trondheim area

The project was a feasibility study of possible adaptions of the NSI-63 relay interlocking on Trondheim station on the Dovrebanen line; for establishing a terminal which could serve as a freight hub for the entire region. Main focus area was necessary modifications of the signalling system for achieving 600m. train length. The conclusion was quickly found that no issues for the signalling system could be identified.

Site and engineering management; signalling UHN Holm-Nykirke

Site management and project engineer on behalf of Jernbaneverket on signalling of the new double track section on the Vestfoldbanen line between Holm and Nykirke. The project was part of the Norwegian class-B signalling frame agreement SignAn. Scope of work included follow up of signalling system supplier Thales AS and installation subcontractors. The scope also included follow up of Bombardier Transportation during modifications of the existing EBILock interlocking; including subcontractor NJD AS. Installation check out and function control during some phases in the project was also part of the scope. All work was done by personnel certified by Jernbaneverket as “Sluttkontrollør F”.

Site Manager nationwide modifications of the ATC-system

Site management on behalf of Jernbaneverket for the nationwide modifications of the Norwegian legacy ATP-system ATC (“Kryssingbarriere”). The scope of work also included participation during several shutdowns all over Norway and function control of the affected signalling systems. Follow up of multiple installation contractors were a daily part of the project. Also some engineering tasks were included during periods with lack of resources within the client organization.

Site manager signalling SSG Sandnes-Stavanger

Site management on behalf of Jernbaneverket on resignalling of the section Sandnes-Stavanger/Ganddal freight terminal on the line Sørlandsbanen. The project was the first deployment line in the Norwegian class-B signalling frame agreement SignAn. Scope of work included follow up of signalling system supplier Thales AS and installation subcontractor Eltel Networks AS. In addition the scope included engineering management and sub-project management of railway systems contractor InfraNord AS for the necessary updates of other railway systems (i.e. tracks; catenary; point heating).
In some of the project phases also installation check-out and function control was included both of the new signalling system and the legacy NSI-63 relay interlocking. The work was done by personnel with Jernbaneverket signalling certifications.

Sub Project Management; upgrade of class-B signalling systems

Sub Project Managemen for upgrade of Thales class-B signalling systems on behalf of Bane NOR. The Project scope is to upgrade the SW; and in some cases HW; on alreade commissioned lines. ProRail scope is to be the Project Manager’s advisor for signalling issues and responsibility for project documentation and functional studies. Part of the scope is to assist other activities and evaluation of fullfilment of the technical requirements in addition to participate during approval activitites and test and commissioning activities.
